Hey everyone,

My name is Pat, and I’m starting this fundraiser because my partner Sadie and I are at a breaking point emotionally, financially, and physically. I know everyone’s going through hard things right now, but if you're able to read this, I hope you’ll hear us out.

Over the last year, Sadie has been hit by more grief than anyone should ever have to endure. In October, her childhood best friend died. In December, her younger brother passed away. And just days ago, one of her oldest and dearest friends was discovered to have passed after being missing for over a month.

And then, just three days after hearing about that, we got a call from her brother saying that their mom had accidentally sliced open her wrist on broken glass and was minutes away from bleeding out. She was airlifted to the hospital and rushed into emergency surgery to repair an artery and multiple tendons, and she’s now undergoing a second procedure to try and fix some of the nerve damage. Sadie is 4,000 miles away and can’t be there for her mom, can’t sit with her, can’t hold her hand, or lean on her friends and family through the grief, and it’s tearing her up.

Sadie moved to New York last year because she wanted to make a good choice for herself. She wanted a life that felt as full and vibrant and exciting as she’s always dreamed of, and she deserves it. She is undoubtedly the kindest, most loving, most thoughtful person I've ever met, and she was that person for those she just lost. Instead, she’s spent her first year here buried in loss. And now, we’re also drowning financially.

We’re more than $6,000 behind on rent and struggling to keep our apartment. A few months ago, someone stole all of our clothes from the laundromat, and we haven’t been able to replace most of them. We’ve both been trying our best to stay afloat, but at this point, the weight is too much. We’re out of options, and every decision feels impossible under the pressure we’re carrying.

Every bit of support will help us cover rent, keep our home, and give us a little breathing room to keep moving forward in the face of so much pain. We know that $8.5k is a lot, and we might not even get close, but we appreciate any support you are willing to give us.
