Help Sadia Heal: Cover Living Costs Post-Surgery
Donation protected
I'm Sadia, a trans disabled artist who's looking for help recovering from surgery. I'm getting a hysterectomy in September, which has a recovery time of 4-8 weeks. I will not be able to work for at least a month after surgery, and I need help covering my cost of living during that time.
I struggle with a variety of chronic health conditions that already make my ability to work limited. Most of them don't have cures, and instead must be carefully managed through lifestyle and medication, probably for the rest of my life.
Endometriosis is one exception to this. It causes debilitating pain for a few days each month, and general discomfort at other times. The medication I'm currently using to manage it has a number of unpleasant side effects, and I would love to be able to go off of it. Getting a hysterectomy offers me that chance. Hysterectomies greatly improve endometriosis symptoms, and cure it completely in 80% of cases. The opportunity to permanently cross a medical condition off my list, and lessen the amount of symptoms I'm dealing with on a daily basis, is life-changing.
So far it seems like insurance will cover all the costs associated with the surgery itself! The money I'm fundraising will cover the following:
- Rent, utilities, monthly bills
- Food
- Transportation, especially as I may need to pay for rideshares during recovery to avoid longer walks
- Deliveries for home goods and food while I'm unable to go out and get them
- Medical supplies outside the scope of insurance, such as materials for physical therapy
I am so grateful to everyone who contributes or shares this. I am so hopeful that this will be a positive change in my life, and being able to go through recovery without financial strain would truly mean the world to me!
