Who am I?
Hi, my name is Sade Robinson and I am an aspiring screenwriter/producer. I am currently pursuing a BFA at NYU Tisch's department of dramatic writing! I am a Summa Cum Laude transfer student from Nassau Community College, and so far I am loving my experience at NYU. I am learning about the film, television and entertainment business, and learning how to write screenplays, plays, and television. This is an incredible opportunity for me and a lifelong dream as well!I am happy to say that I ended the semester with a 3.9 gpa!
I have loved telling stories since I was a toddler. I came up with the most elaborate plots and character arcs for my dolls. I spent my youth experimenting with musical theatre, acting, improv, and filmmaking. But nothing got my mind turning like creating characters and their worlds. What I wanted to do was produce my own writing; I knew that screenwriting was my passion; my path.
I want to be a screenwriter because I have many stories to tell, and as a black woman, I feel that it is imperative that our stories and experiences are told by us, for us. We need to be represented in front of the camera, but also behind the scenes. My education and degree from NYU won’t just give me the tools to write amazing stories, but it will open so many doors for me to meet and potentially work for the creative artists and companies that I’ve admired for so long. With my degree, I’ll be able to not only gain access to these opportunities for myself, but I will use my experience to help other women in the industry as well.
How You Can Help!
With the help of my mother, I was able to pay for the fall semester. However, due to financial struggles caused by the Pandemic, I am struggling to pay for the upcoming spring semester. Currently, I am facing the possibility of not returning to school for the spring. My loan offerings were helpful, but insufficient. NYU has a steep tuition and I am trying to pay for school on my own now since my parents cannot afford the costs.
I am starting this campaign with the hope that you can assist me. In order to stay in school, I need to raise $25,000. However, ANY donation, no matter the size would be greatly appreciated. Your donation would help to lighten the financial load and help me to realize my lifelong dream of becoming a screenwriter and working in the entertainment industry.
