Help Sacred Circle Access Water!

Water Is Life

Really, it is! Humans can only go 3 days without water until the body starts to suffer from the effects of dehydration. When we bought this land, there was a 180' drilled well that was installed in 2008. It's never been used, but I'm sure the water is delicious!

Typically, folks use an electric pump to bring water to the surface from a deep drilled well like ours. We happened to find an old submersible well pump, and were gifted the wiring to connect it. We have a generator that we used for the house build that should be sufficient to draw water from the well. Currently we are getting water from a spring about 10 miles from our home.

This is all fine and good, but not very resilient, reliable, efficient or convenient. We don't mind using our electrical pump as a backup, or for large amounts of water, but we don't like the idea of it being a primary source of water. We know from experience, that they can and will fail at some point, especially since ours is an older model. We strive to be resilient in the face of trying times, a changing climate, and societal discourse. However, leaving to meet the most basic of human needs, or using fossil fuels to do so isn't resilient at all. As a matter of fact, it's the complete opposite, having to rely on outside sources such as fuel, cleared roads (in winter) and mechanical and electrical parts.

In comes the Simple Pump. The Simple Pump (https://simplepump.com/) is a wonderful invention that allows one to draw water from a deep well via hand power. Hand power will not run out when oil is not being drawn from the resources of the earth, does not rely on electrical moving parts, and only makes us stronger and more resilient! Not to mention, this pump allows us to also install our electrical pump alongside it, so we can use it when we need to

We have many thirsts to quench here on the homestead other than these two human thirsts. Our nursery and seedlings, our many food plants in our gardens, a growing herd of goats, a large flock of chickens and ducks, and a very obedient guard dog depend on us leaving to go get them water every few days, this is quite the process in winter. We walk to our truck, which is parked half a mile away, and then sled the weight in water one half mile back to the homestead! We can't wait for the day we can pump to our hearts content and watch the crystal clear water flow into our buckets. We also plan on hosting many classes, workshops, and multi-day retreats that would also greatly benefit from access to water on the homestead.

We'd love to be able to raise these funds by the spring time, even sooner if possible. This way we can be resilient in the face of the great possibility of yet another drought year like we had in 2020. The Simple Pump is a very well made product, and the cost of around $2,500 reflects that, and they stand by their quality with a lifetime warranty. This is the top of the line as far as hand pumps go, and we can't afford to settle for less when our very lives depend on it! The Simple Pump is also highly modular, allowing us to hook it up to a pressure tank eventually.

We would appreciate any and all donations, and they'll go to help us immensely on our daily homestead life, and also grant us complete peace of mind in terms of water access, something that everyone should have.
