I never imagined that an action I took with a humanitarian and symbolic purpose could lead me to a situation where I might face prison in Thailand.

I did what I did because I wanted to stand up for something I deeply believe in: protecting animals and sending a message of peace, compassion and humanity.

It was never about hurting anyone.

It was never about causing violence.

It was a symbolic act, a way of using my voice when I felt that animals needed someone to speak for them.

Today, I am the one who needs help.

I am facing a serious legal situation in Thailand, and I am desperately trying to raise the funds necessary to cover my legal expenses, lawyers and related costs so that I can defend myself and hopefully avoid imprisonment.

I am asking for help not because I want special treatment, but because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard, represented and defended.

My name is Mr Korso, and I have been a very close friend of Sacha Bastok for more than 10 years. I had come to Thailand to visit him when all of this happened, suddenly. Sacha asked me to run this campaign on his behalf, and today I am asking our friends, our community and people around the world:

How the funds will be used

Every euro raised goes to Sacha's defence and to getting him out as quickly as possible:

Lawyer's fees for his legal defence

Bail, so he can be released while his case is handled

The fine he is expected to receive

Travel costs, should he be deported or should extradition proceedings require him to travel

The care of his dog while Sacha cannot look after him. Friends here in Thailand are taking turns to make sure he has everything he needs.

How the funds will be managed

Sacha has asked me to manage the funds for him while he is unable to do it himself. Lawyer's fees, bail and the fine will be paid directly to the law firm and to the relevant authorities. Once Sacha is free, any money left over will be transferred directly to his personal bank account, and he intends to use it to support the animals of the park.
