Hello,
My name is Sabrina Broberg. I am a mom and stepmother of seven children. In November, not even three weeks after our youngest was born, my husband Jeff (35) suffered a widowmaker heart attack. He died for a full minute and was life-flighted to a different state for medical care.
During his stay at the hospital in cardiac ICU, he was diagnosed with chronic heart failure, and his heart only functions at 30%. He was put on a heart transplant list as well.
He was the main breadwinner in our household as a children's behavior/ social-emotional specialist for the Boys and Girls Club of America and was a Youth Advocate for victim services prior. He's a truly wonderful man who adores helping and being a huge support for the children in our community, even taking in two neglected and abused teenagers in his twenties.
However, now he is even incapable of watching our children at home. It causes him a great deal of chest pain and more heart attack symptoms.
While I have increased my hours at my job, I have missed out on a lot of work because of illness, multiple doctor's appointments more than an hour away from our home, broken down vehicles, and closures from our daycare. I have slowly become more and more behind on my bills and fear this may become a more permanent issue until we can get him on disability.
What we will be using funds for:
• Help with rent
• Electric and heating bills
• Daycare
• Household supplies, such as diapers, wipes, cleaning supplies, etc.
• Vehicle repairs
• any medical bills that medicaid refuses to cover, such as life flight and ambulance
We are incredibly grateful for any assistance. Even if it's just sharing our story or a prayer.
Thank you so much.
