Help Sabrina Sitler Breathe Easy Again

Hello, my name is Mandy and my best friend, Sabrina Sitler of 22 years was just put on a double lung transplant list!

We are asking above all for healing, lifting prayers as she navigates through this long journey.

Sabrina is at end-stage autoimmune interstitial lung disease/pulmonary fibrosis that she has been battling for 4 years.

Recently, her “Sjögren’s Syndrome” progressed very quickly.

On November 5, 2024, she was taken to Warren General Hospital and transported to UPMC Shadyside, where she spent 8 days in the ICU. From there, she was transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital Intensive Care Unit. She was met there by the transplant team. She was told she wouldn't survive without a double lung transplant. She has had many tests to get her ready for her new lungs. She will remain at the hospital until a donor is found.

During this time and post-transplant, there will be many out-of-pocket expenses, co-pays, a long 3-month stay in Pittsburgh 3 months post-transplant, travel expenses for her daughter, Dahlia, to be by her mother's side. Family and friends' support brings great value in recovery, and we want them to be together as much as possible. This will also help with any medical bills the insurance won't cover.

After the lung transplant, she will remain in the hospital for 30 days, followed by 90 days post-transplant with weekly outpatient physical pulmonary rehab along with doctor appointments and more testing until the transplant team decides she can go home. She will need to stay in Pittsburgh due to these conditions.
