Oebe is still at the vet in Victoria. It has been touch and go throughout her stay there but she is showing some slow progression and we’re hoping it stays this way!

We appreciate everyone who has donated so far and the continuing support has allowed Sabrina to use this time to focus solely on Oebe!

Oebe has taken a turn and has been moved to the ICU. Her current state is critical as they are monitoring her kidneys, and her elevated heart rate. Please keep Sabrina and Oebe in your thoughts. This has been such an emotional rollercoaster and they could use all of your love and support.

My names Miranda and I am hoping to raise funds to help my sister Sabrina and her beloved pup Oebe. If you know my sister, you know she’s the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone else. She’s the first to show up, the last to leave, and always puts others before herself.

Recently, Sabrina’s sweet dog Oebe—who is more than a pet, she’s truly a part of our family—was up to no good and got into something she shouldn’t have. At first, she seemed okay, but a few days later, she became very sick. Sabrina rushed her to an emergency vet, where they diagnosed that something Oebe had eaten was lodged in her stomach and had started twisting her intestines. She was immediately taken in for emergency surgery.

We all hoped that would be the end of it—but it wasn’t.

The initial surgery was not done properly. The vet missed part of the foreign object, and nicked her intestines during the procedure which caused fluid to leak into her stomach. Less than 24 hours later, Oebe had to be rushed in for a second emergency surgery.

Thankfully, Oebe is now awake from surgery, but she’s still not in the clear. She’s being closely monitored, as there is a high risk for sepsis and she’s struggling to wean off of the pain medication. It’s going to be a long and uncertain road to recovery, but we’re doing everything we can to help her through it.

As you can imagine, the financial burden is immense. Emergency vet visits, two major surgeries (one involving Oebe being sent to Victoria) overnight hospital stays, tests, medications—it adds up fast. On top of that, Sabrina has had to take time off work to be by Oebe’s side and care for her through recovery. It’s an incredibly heavy weight to carry alone.

Oebe is Sabrina’s whole world. They’ve been a part of each others lives through it all, and the bond they have is unbreakable. Sabrina has done everything she can to save Oebe, and as anyone who knows her can tell you, she’d do it a hundred times over for the people (and animals) she loves.

Now it’s our turn to show up for someone who constantly shows up for everyone else.
