My dear friend Sabrina was evacuated from her Brooklyn apartment in the early morning hours of June 25 after a devastating electrical fire destroyed her home.

At approximately 2:30 AM, Sabrina was suddenly awakened and forced to evacuate immediately. With only moments to react, she grabbed her cat and whatever she could carry before escaping to safety. Thankfully, she made it out unharmed, but nearly everything else was lost.

Sabrina had lived in that apartment for 11 years. It wasn’t just an apartment. It was her home, her safe place, and the space where she built a life, created memories, and poured so much of herself over the last decade. Now, she is facing the unimaginable task of starting over from scratch.

The timeline for repairs and renovations is still unknown, leaving Sabrina displaced with no certainty about when she will be able to return home.

Since the fire, she has already had to spend significant out-of-pocket money on temporary housing, finding places to stay, and basic necessities. She lost furniture, clothing, personal belongings, and many of the everyday essentials most of us take for granted.

I have known Sabrina for more than 13 years, and she is one of the most thoughtful, resilient, and compassionate people I know. She has always shown up for the people she loves, and throughout her own personal journey, she has inspired so many others simply by being authentically herself. Everything Sabrina has built has come from years of hard work, determination, and perseverance.

Sabrina is self-employed, runs her own business, and works as a model and artist in the creative industry. Because her income is contract-based, this sudden tragedy has created not only an emotional hardship, but also significant financial uncertainty as she works to rebuild her life.

I am asking our friends, family, community, and anyone who is able to help to please consider supporting Sabrina during this incredibly difficult time. Donations of any amount, that can help provide the essentials, will make a meaningful difference.

No one expects to lose their home overnight. Any support, whether financial or simply sharing this fundraiser, will help Sabrina begin the long process of rebuilding after this heartbreaking loss.

Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support.
