funding Sabine's fight against stage IV cancer
Donation protected
My name is Jeff Cody and this gofundme is to help my wife, Sabine in her fight against stage 4 breast cancer.
Almost two months ago, my wife was diagnosed with Infiltrating ductile carcinoma of the breast. It metastasized and spread from the breast, to the lymph nodes, and to the bones in the pelvic region.
We weren't prepared for a diagnosis like that. Originally, we had taken her to the hospital for severe sciatic pain and possibly a dislocated hip. Cancer never entered our minds.
The doctors advised me that the cancer had all but dissolved her right femur from the femoral head up, and had eaten away at the left side of her pelvis, leaving it full of holes and extremely fragile.
(The right femoral neck and head)

(Pelvic bone around the femur eaten away)

Just a couple days after getting to the hospital, they took Sabine in for a hip replacement on the right side. The left side of the pelvis, unfortunately is something they can't repair. So they started radiation therapy, focusing on the hips, with the intention of killing the cancer and giving the bone time to repair itself. While bone is slowly growing back, this area is still so fragile that if she were to put weight on it, or even move it wrong, it could shatter, and the damage would be unrepairable.
Sabine has also been put onto a chemo drug that blocks estrogen production, with the hope that the drug will stop growth, and hopefully shrink the tumors in her breast and lymph node.
(Puppies missing Sabine)

After six weeks, Sabine was able to leave the hospital and has been brought home. While she was away, I was able make the house more wheelchair accessible by pouring a 50 foot walkway and building a wheelchair ramp up to the house. I built her a custom bed frame and modified a wheelchair to make transferring back and forth easier, remodeled the living room so she can be cared for there and have access to as much of the house as possible, have some interaction with our dogs that she missed so much, and be able to see her goats in their stalls via a closed circuit security system I wired to the television, and a baby monitor so that she can hear and talk to the goats as well.
Our current problem falls in the area of transportation;
In Sabine's current condition, transferring from her wheelchair to a car seat and back is extremely dangerous and we have many doctors appointments ahead of us. On top of that, the chemo drugs make her ill and the possibility of multiple emergency bathroom breaks on a trip is high. I am hoping to obtain a vehicle that can help me to safely take her back and forth to doctors appointments. Something with a wheelchair lift and enough room to suit her needs.
And that's where we are asking for help. While my insurance has been great, it doesn't cover everything, and a vehicle with wheelchair access is not something we can afford, but desperately need.
I've been fortunate enough to have been put in contact with a couple doctors that are doing some very promising new work in the cancer field, specifically in dealing with stage 4 breast cancer, but I have to be able to get Sabine to these appointments that are over 100 miles away.

Anything that you can give is greatly appreciated and will go toward a vehicle to get Sabine to her treatments, and to help alleviate some of the weight of the medical bills and expenses as they come in. And if you can't help financially, then please share this campaign with others so as to further broaden our exposure.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, watch the video, and thinking of Sabine, so that she can get back on her feet, literally and get back to enjoying time spent with her dogs and goats. Thank you!
