Hi! I'm Andrew, and this is my cat, Sabina. She's an old girl, we took her in a couple years ago, and she's been a precious little bean. We've given her a loving home, and she's given us nothing but love. At times, she even acts as my assistant editor, resting at my desk or in my lap as I edit videos or acting as my alarm clock when a deadline approaches. Her right iris was always a little discolored, but we thought nothing of it because it didn't seem to impair or bother her.
That is, until a few weeks ago. Practically overnight, it completely clouded up and started oozing. It was causing her distress. The vet said the pressure in her eye was above 70, and 40 in the left. Normal pressure should be 20. After a week of eye drops, her eye started to clear up a bit and the pressure dropped to ~40 and ~20. But after another two weeks, there was no further improvement.
Turns out, it's melanoma. We got her chest X-rays, blood work, and ultrasound results back and thankfully it seems that it hasn't spread to other parts of the body. Our best option right now is to have the eye removed.
Unfortunately, the cost of these tests and the coming surgery has put some major financial strain on us, and threaten to clean me out. I'm hoping to at least cover the cost of the surgical consultation and procedure, which are estimated to be $900-$1200. Her original owner has offered to chip in $300 to help ease the strain, but I've already spent roughly $700 on vet visits and tests this past month.
I'm setting the goal to $1000 to cover Sabina's surgery at roughly its highest estimated cost, with a small buffer to account for any unexpected complications or fees. Any contributions past this point would help to recuperate whatever has already been spent.
Thank you. Every little bit helps.
