Help me turn one working idea into an independent maker studio

My name is Saber. I am building Nestcells: a small, independent studio for calm, useful digital tools.

The first project is SignalWall, a free and open-source live wallpaper host for Windows. It gives each monitor a purpose through typography, themes, controlled motion, and screen-level settings. The working alpha, source code, documentation, and public roadmap already exist.

SignalWall started with a problem on my own three-monitor desk. Most wallpapers felt like static decoration or constant motion. I wanted something quieter: a desktop that could show a principle, reminder, or useful signal without becoming another notification.

That small problem became a real product.

Why I am asking for help

Building software is only one part of releasing it responsibly. An independent desktop application also needs compatibility testing, code signing, security work, accessible onboarding, documentation, release infrastructure, support, and enough focused time to solve difficult problems properly.

SignalWall is the starting point, not the end of the vision. Nestcells will be a place to test and release focused tools for work, learning, organization, and intentional digital environments. I want to build in public, validate one problem at a time, and keep only the ideas that prove useful.

What the CA$12,000 goal will fund

• CA$3,000 - Trusted releases and security: Windows code signing, release verification, dependency review, checksums, and safer distribution.

• CA$3,000 - Protected maker time: focused development, testing, documentation, issue resolution, and community communication.

• CA$2,000 - Compatibility testing: hardware, monitors, adapters, Windows configurations, software services, and test environments.

• CA$1,500 - Accessibility and onboarding: reduced-motion behavior, keyboard-friendly controls, clearer installation, bilingual documentation, and tutorials.

• CA$1,500 - Next Nestcells prototypes: small, testable experiments based on real user problems.

• CA$1,000 - Fees, taxes, and contingency: processing, administrative costs, unexpected technical expenses, and a responsible buffer.

If the campaign raises less than the full goal, funds will first go toward SignalWall's release security, compatibility, and documentation. If it exceeds the goal, the additional runway will support broader testing, independent security review, and carefully scoped prototypes.

What already exists

This is not a request to fund a vague concept. SignalWall already includes:

• multi-monitor live wallpaper hosting

• synchronized or independent text on each display

• custom phrase libraries organized by theme

• per-screen typography and color themes

• physical screen ordering

• timing controls up to five minutes

• multiple text transitions

• particle, grid, and progress controls

• light and dark control-center themes

How I will work

• Keep SignalWall's core source public.

• Publish meaningful progress and spending updates.

• Explain important tradeoffs and delays honestly.

• Prioritize security, accessibility, and maintainability over feature volume.

• Use AI-assisted engineering tools under human direction and review.

• Avoid promising a macOS release until a credible native path is validated.

• Clearly separate proven products from experiments.

SignalWall does not embed an AI model or require users to send their text to an AI service.

Why this matters to me

I want to prove that a small independent maker can build software that is calm, inspectable, useful, and honest about its limitations.

SignalWall is the first evidence. Nestcells is the longer-term commitment.
