Help Joriki Attend Shobo-ji Ceremony

Donation protected
Gassho friends, my name is Ryuun Joriki Baker and I am a Zen Buddhist monk who runs a small zendo in rural Pennsylvania. I have practiced for over 30 years, with the last 13 years at a temple in Seattle called Shobo-Ji. Recently, I was asked to return to Shoboji in Seattle to help officiate my Dharma Brother’s (Seifu Singh-Molares) installation as Vice Abbot. This ceremony is a symbol of the transmission of our lineage and an affirmation of the importance of community.
Due to years of complex spinal and knee surgeries from a motorcycle accident in 2021, I have been left with severe financial hardship. The last time I was able to visit the temple was seven years ago, and being present for this ceremony means a great deal to me. The funds I raise will help cover airfare, luggage, meals, and Uber, making it possible for me to attend the ceremony and reconnect with my spiritual home and family.

I hope those who read this letter find my request as important as I do. Your kindness and generosity will make it possible for me to take part in this community event. Thank you for considering my fundraiser and for supporting my journey.
