Hi! I'm Ryleigh, and I will be laid off from my role at KUOW on October 6, 2025. During my 30-day notice, I wanted to utilize my insurance while I still had it.

Unfortunately, when I went in for a routine dental exam/cleaning, I was informed that I would need significant dental work to maintain my long-term oral health.

Even after insurance and (very kind) discounts from my dentist, the cost would be approximately $5000. I had to pay one-third upfront using my savings and credit card, while the remaining would be paid through a payment plan.

If I were not losing my primary income, this expense would be annoying but manageable; alas, this will not be the case after my layoff.

Even with potential temporary work and unemployment, I cannot afford this steep expense while I search for another full-time role and pay my monthly living expenses.
