Hi! My name is Shannon and I am fundraising for my daughter Rylan. She is currently 10 and since 5 has been experiencing complex medical issues that require invasive testing and treatment and currently a hospital stay (on day 4). She is tired of the medical world and her beautiful spirit is in need of a boost. To cope with all of the downtime, isolation and medical stuff she loves to play the video game Roblox. She is a Make a Wish kid who has not been stable enough to choose and complete a wish for several years. While that one is on hold, she mentions wishing to have Robux (the name of the money used in Roblox) to buy all her favorite pets in the game of Adopt Me. She has lost confidence that the medical world can help as she keeps experiencing devastating relapses soon after she has short periods of improving.
One of her dreams is to be a YouTuber who makes videos for children with medical issues, specifically targeting those with brain injuries and vision/hearing issues. She notices that many videos don’t have captioning or move at a pace that is difficult for brain injured or slower processing people to follow. She wants to change this. Unfortunately she is unable to work hard on this due to the cognitive issues she is having from her illness. I chose a picture that allows her some privacy and am purposely not divulging more than she readily tells others. I am not meaning to be vague.
It would boost her morale and help her de stress to be able to get new pets and trade with her online friends. She regularly helps others in the game when they do good deeds.
The money would be solely used to buy Robux in the game or multiple Robux gift card. Despite feeling like giving up regularly, it takes very little to help her keep going and work hard. I asked for $100 to reward her for doing procedures but also just because! It would also help this momma feel less guilty about putting her through all the medical stuff.
The good news is she is at Stanford with such a bright team and we hope to reduce how bad the relapses are and increase the better times.
Thank you for checking us out!
Gratefully,
Shannon
