Rylan is a fourteen year old student whose teacher, Ms. Kate Faulconer, nominated him to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in summer 2026 at the University of Maryland in College Park. This invitation recognizes his academic achievement and leadership potential and is a special honor for him and for our family. The conference is a residential program with learning experiences in and around Washington DC. For six days, Rylan would join middle school students from across the country to build skills in leadership, goal setting, communication, problem solving, and social emotional learning. The program includes learning sessions, daily reflections, simulations about real world issues, and visits to important historical sites in the Washington DC area.

As his parent, I have watched Rylan work hard in school and grow into a thoughtful and responsible young person. Being nominated for this program shows that his effort and character are seen by his teachers and community. Attending this conference would give him the chance to push himself further, meet other motivated students, and bring new ideas and confidence back to his school.

We are seeking support to help cover the costs for Rylan to attend this conference, including tuition, housing, supervision, meals, on-site transportation, airfare, ground transportation, travel protection, and basic expenses during the week. Our family is responsible for arranging and paying for all travel and program costs.
