Ryder Makeshine is one of the strongest babies I know.
He came into this world a bit early on January 15th, 2019. His little hands and feet wiggling and kicking, just like his twin brother. A few big yawns and he'd be set to be like any other baby boy born. Giving smiles and joy to his mother, twin brother and all the visitors to see him.
Now the tables have turned, and Ryder is the one who needs help.
Now, at few days old, when most babies are being released to go home and start life with family, Ryder is entering a battle for his heart and life.
You see, Ryder is diagnosed with SVT, a faster than normal heart beat rate above the two lower chambers of his little heart. And his little body and heart isn't able on his own without intensive care and medication, especially being a newborn.
He is now had a life flight to St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Denver Colorado. And his hard working mother Catalina is staying at the Ronald McDonald House, which will run out on February 1st. Catalina and Ryders loving grandma Sylvia are now having to leave work, and keep things tight and afloat for as long as they can. They now worry every day, instead of bringing home a baby to raise and love with good health.
Having already been at the hospital for week, Ryder is now under intensive care and monitoring. And this is the place where access to the best medical care for his little heart -- so Ryder and his family can have their future back.
Higher doses of medication and monitoring an SVT episode -- offers hope, but can't be determined at this time.
However, there is amazing things being done like having the best doctors and cardiologists, surrounding him to help him heal faster and start a life normal life and enjoy his family!
And the best part is, he and his mother doesn't have to transfer or do a check in with specialists at another hospital! Ryder is at the right place and the right time!
Sadly, only some of these life saving-treatments are covered by insurance. The fact of an emergency life flight, and current care are costs are increasing each day, while Cat, and surrounding family are having to cut time and pay from work keep things afloat.
I want Ryder and his mother to rest easy at night. And get the best treatments and care possible. And I want him to get a chance to have a healthy heart, and start his new little life with a smile and security that all kids deserve.
