In 2018, Claire and Ryder lost their home and everything they owned, along with their 2 precious pet pigs in the Camp Fire of Butte county. 

In December of 2019, life was just starting to get back to a new normal when 8-year-old Ryder was diagnosed stage 4 aggressive Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Ryder fought hard and endured a great deal of pain along with high intensity chemotherapy and radiation treatment. In April of 2020 she went into remission.

In September 2020 she received the unfortunate news that new cancer was found. The new cancer growth is near her spine. A biopsy has shown that the new cancer is Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Her stage has not been determined yet, but she will begin treatment on September 30th. She will begin treatment with cycles of intense chemotherapy. The cycle length will be determined by her stage. (The cycles during her previous treatment were 21 days in length).

After the first couple cycles of chemotherapy, Ryder will begin treatment through a clinical trial that has shown promising results. For this clinical trial, Claire and Ryder will have to travel to the Bay Area of California. Her treatment during this trial will last 3 weeks to possibly more than a month. Claire has been told she will have to find a place to stay during parts of this treatment.
