Help Ryder Fight Brain Cancer #TeamRyder

Donation protected
Our nephew, Ryder Bundy, was flown by air ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City after a mass was found in his brain. There, the mass was identified as a cancerous brain tumor and was removed during surgery.

Ryder began experiencing headaches and migraines in the first week of April, but he had migraine issues in the past so his parents, Katie and Monty, did not think much of it. A couple days later, he began to vomit and experience double vision. This is when his parents consulted with a physician’s assistant.

After hearing the symptoms Ryder had, the physician’s assistant told them to go straight to the emergency room. MRI scans followed and the mass was located in Ryder’s brain.

He went from playing baseball with his cousins one day to being airlifted to the hospital in Salt Lake City the next night.

Ryder arrived early on April 9th and went into surgery that afternoon. The mass was removed and found to be cancerous. The mass is known as a medulloblastoma and while it is rare, it is the most commonly found brain tumor in children.

Ryder has been referred to Seattle Children’s Hospital where he will begin proton beam radiation therapy in May. After six weeks of radiation therapy he will undergo chemotherapy in Salt Lake City.

Ryder returned home to Diamond Valley to a hero’s welcome on April 15th. The amount of support shown from the community was incredible and brought so much joy to Ryder.

Unfortunately, Ryder's stay at home was cut short as the Doctors in Seattle did not like what they were seeing in the post-surgery MRI results. Ryder and his parents traveled back to Salt Lake City on April 17th for an additional MRI in hopes of ruling out that any of the tumor remained. This morning, April 20th, the team of doctors in Salt Lake City, in consultation with Seattle Children’s Hospital, made the decision to perform surgery once again as they were not satisfied with the new MRI results. We’re praying all goes well with surgery today and that the doctors will be able to remove the tumor entirely.

Ryder’s greatest fans are his parents, who have been by his side the entire time. His parents are not ones to seek out financial assistance, which is why we’ve taken it upon ourselves to ask for your support in helping the Bundy family as they will undoubtedly continue to experience many financial setbacks, including: medical treatment, hotel accommodations, airfare and other travel related expenses. At least one parent will be away from work to be with Ryder during his treatments, creating an even greater financial burden.

We realize this is a challenging time for many of you and know that financial support may not be an option. Please keep Ryder and the Bundy Family in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to navigate this difficult journey. We know the Bundy Family would be forever grateful for any type of support offered on Ryder’s behalf during this time.
