On April 18, 2023, Ryan Villarreal was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 13. He was in and out of the hospital and received chemotherapy. His results came back, and he was in remission and was discharged from the hospital.

On April 5, 2025, he complained about having pain in his bones and joints and was taken to the hospital where the cancer came back. Since then, he's been hospitalized, and as of a couple of days ago, he's been put on a ventilator. His lungs retain fluid, and he had to get intubated.

His mother stopped working since he's been admitted to the hospital, and his father, as of one month ago, had to stop working to be with his son full-time as his condition doesn't seem to be getting any better.
