Hi, my name is Ryan Nicks, and I’m reaching out with humility and hope.
For the past year and a half, I’ve been walking the long, exhausting road of applying for disability. It’s been a journey full of medical paperwork, appointments, hearings, and learning how to advocate for myself every step of the way.
I finally had my disability hearing recently—and it went very well. My attorney strongly believes we won, and now it’s just a waiting game. I should receive an official decision in 2–3 months, and while I’m incredibly hopeful, I’m also at a point where I need some support to stay afloat in the meantime.
I’m not trying to fund anything extravagant—just the bare minimum to survive until I’m approved. Things like rent, utilities, groceries, and the basics to care for myself and my service dog in training. I’m doing everything I can to keep going, and it’s hard to ask for help, but I know that community can carry us through some of the hardest moments.
If you’re not in a place to donate, I completely understand. Even a follow or share can make a difference. I’m building a small but meaningful space online where I talk about my life as a trans, disabled person navigating healing, softness, and survival. You can find me at @reclaiming_ryan on TikTok, Instagram, and Threads and following me there would help a ton if nothing else.
If you would prefer I also have Venmo, Zelle and Cashapp (they tend to charge less than GFM)
Every bit of support helps—whether it’s a few dollars, a follow on socials, or simply sharing this link with others. Thank you for holding space for me.
With gratitude,
Ryan Nicks
