On Sunday night, Ryan wasn’t feeling well. I noticed his speech was off, and his face looked a little strange, so we headed straight to the hospital. Turns out he had a stroke caused by a brain bleed, likely due to high blood pressure. We’ve been in the ICU since Sunday. He lost all movement on the left side of his body. He has some feeling and limited movement in his left leg, though it’s inconsistent. His left arm has no movement, but there is some sensation in his hand and slight movement in his thumb. The doctors are hopeful about his recovery, but he will need intensive physical therapy. My wife has taken time off from work to support my recovery and learn how to care for me throughout this journey.
