Help Ryan after life changing mountain biking accident
Donation protected
Our friend and neighbour Ryan Fagan had a life altering mountain bike accident at the end of July. After a quick helicopter ride to QEII (where much to his dismay he did not get to look out the window on account of being strapped to a board) he had emergency spinal surgery to insert a rod and help repair the dislocation of C6/C7. It’s been an intense journey so far, with highs and lows for Ryan and his family. He is working hard to heal and regain strength; he’s been making new friends at the hospital and wheeling himself around for exercise and fresh air as much as he can.
After a month in the Neurosurgery ward, Ryan has been transferred to the Rehabilitation Centre in Halifax where he works everyday to manage his pain, reconnect his neuropathways and gain strength. The big goals are to improve fine motor skills in his hands and learn to walk again. Ryan is a father of 2 amazing girls, a son and a brother, a carpenter, an expert pie maker and cook, a mountain biker, a prankster and the very best person to have as a neighbour and friend. Ryan is always there to offer a helping hand to those around him. Now it’s our turn to help Ryan out.
Just before the accident, Ryan purchased new windows for his humble home. They are now sitting waiting to be installed. We are hoping to raise funds to get the windows put in, so he has one less thing to think about when he comes home. If we raise extra funds, they will go to supporting Ryan through this transition while he cannot work and help with any accessibility upgrades to his house if needed. We don't know what the future holds for Ryan during his recovery, but we do know that he has the love and support of a great family and community. Let's show him how much we care by helping to take some financial stresses away.
