Help Ryan Recover from Brain Infection

Hello everyone I am Ryan’s sister Monique, I started this gofundme in support of our family with his medical bills and other expenses that arise. Ryan is a 19 year old who is full of life and laughter. Anyone that knows him, knows he always found a way to bring a smile and a laugh out of you. Saturday 4/26 our family woke up and found Ryan unresponsive to us, after a couple days of not feeling well. We called the ambulance and they took him to YRMC, where he was then rushed to be tested for sepsis and spinal meningitis. They ran test and did a CT, finding he had a brain bleed and a mass they couldn’t identify as they did not have the correct resources. He was then airlifted to St. Jospeh’s hospital in Phx where they stabilized him and found through MRI, he had an aggressive infection on the entire left side of his brain. They also were able to fully specify he had another infection which was bacterial meningitis in his spine. He was then rushed into emergency surgery, where they were able to get most of the brain infection out. There is still some infection deeply embedded in his brain which they are hoping antibiotics will help. He has a big section of his skull (left side) removed and sent off for testing. His surgery went as well as it could’ve given his life threatening condition, his brain did swell during surgery. It will most likely be weeks before they can either place back the piece of his skull or create a new piece for him. He is now in ICU which he will remain for the next few weeks, as far as our family knows. We appreciate all the love and support that has been provided to our family already.
