I was living in Michigan with a family member and struggling to get by. When my old job in Florida called and offered me a second chance, I saw it as an opportunity to rebuild my life and escape poverty. I quickly bought a plane ticket, determined to get back on my feet. Just two days before my flight, I broke my wrist at the skating rink. This unexpected injury forced me to miss my flight, and I had to spend the last of my money on another ticket. The only affordable option brought me to Florida on March 8th, with work starting the very next day.

I was supposed to have surgery on my wrist soon after the injury, but nearly three weeks have passed without treatment. I managed to speak with an orthopedic specialist, but they require an upfront payment for a visit and new x-rays. Right now, I am homeless and living out of my car, doing my best to work and improve my situation. I believed I could handle this lifestyle temporarily, but with a broken wrist, it has become incredibly difficult. My health insurance won’t begin until I’ve been employed for 30 days, leaving me in a tough spot.
