Aloha all, I'm raising funds on behalf of my older sister, Ryan Okamoto. Ryan is a beautiful, out and proud trans woman living in Washington, but in 2019, Ryan was physically assaulted in a hate crime.
Since this attack, Ryan has been living with severe PTSD and agoraphobia. Ryan has tried different medications and therapies, but daily life remains a struggle and she often can't leave her room for dissociative episodes and severe panic attacks. Since 2022, she has been unable to work due to her conditions, and our family is reaching the end of our ability to assist her financially.
Our final hope is to get Ryan ketamine therapy from a well-reviewed and respected clinic in Tacoma. Ketamine therapy has made a huge, positive impact in the lives of many patients like Ryan who suffer from PTSD, but it is an out-of-network treatment and our family alone cannot afford the cost.
We're hoping to raise $3,900 USD to cover the cost of Ryan's treatment. The cost treatment breakdown goes like this:
- $300 up front for an establishing session with Ryan's psychotherapist
- $2,700 for the base ketamine treatment
- $150 per psychotherapy session, twice a week for3 weeks ($900 total)
If, through everyone's generosity, we are able to raise more than our goal of $3,900, all excess funds will go towards helping Ryan with her living expenses such as rent, medication, food budget, and daily necessities. This will help so much in giving Ryan financial security.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this far. It absolutely breaks my heart that my out-going, charismatic sister has been suffering for so long. Every donation is hugely impactful and much appreciated.
(At this time, we kindly ask you to refrain from messaging Ryan directly, as too many messages can trigger panic attacks for her. If you have any messages you would like to pass on to Ryan, please feel free to message them to me and I will save and pass your message along to Ryan when she's ready!)
Mahalo nui loa.
