Help Ryan fight rare Bone Cancer

Donation protected
Here is my husband Ryan's story. At the beginning of November 2018 after a few months of having a dull pain in his chest and a noticeable lump, I finally convinced Ryan to go see his primary care doctor. Thinking his pain was from an old sports injury, we were to soon find out our world would be turned upside down. Ryan was sent immediately for more tests. After his first ultrasound and CT scans they knew right away it was a tumor growing from his 4th rib bone and connective tissue on his leftside. The diagnosis was Chondrosarcoma. We were completely numb. For everyone who doesnt know, Sarcoma Cancer is an very rare group of cancers which arise from the bone, and connective tissue such as fat and muscle. There are more than 50 different types of soft tissue sarcomas, In most cases they appear in hips and extremities. They constitute 1% of all malignancies in adults and out of this approximately 10-15% have been reported in the chest wall, making his situation extremely rare. Primary soft-tissue sarcoma of the chest wall is a very rare disease. (See link below)

At that time we were referred to a local general surgeon to talk about doing a biopsy to find out which strand and stage of sarcoma cancer he had. We were scared and relieved to finally get some answers. Four weeks between his first doctor visit and finally we met with his general surgeon, the day of his biopsy appointment minutes before they called us in, our surgeon had canceled his appointment. We were devastated and needed answers and a direction to go. Ryan was now in more pain than ever.  We knew we had to do something. After finding a national Sarcoma Cancer support group, and talking with hundreds of others who experienced the same, we knew we had to get Ryan to a doctor who specialized specifically in Sarcoma Cancers. After researching every cancer center in the state of California, we found Stanford Cancer Center, Ryan's condition was then reviewed by a team of Doctors. He since has been placed under the care of the Stanford Cancer Centers Thoracic team of doctors. On January, 11th 2019 he will under go major surgery, having the tumor (growing out of his 4th rib) along with the 3rd and 5th ribs removed. We will then begin our journey to recovery. Until they biopsy the tumor post resection, treatment is unknown at this time. Ryan is a healthy, loving, amazing husband, and father of two beautiful girls, Hailey (11years old) Maddox (17 months old) and soon to have a baby boy due the beginning of March. It goes without saying that all of your continued prayers, love and support mean so much to the Gomez family! If you are also able to offer any financial support your contribution will help pay for Ryan's treatment for this disease which includes hotel expenses,( Stanford is 3 1/2 hours away from our home) insurance deductibles, co-pays and any out of pocket expenses for treatments, medication and supplements not covered by insurance. Even the smallest donations will help.   As Ryan begins his road to recovery, please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We know that with the support of those around him, his strength, determination and faith will guide him through and kick cancers ass! Thank you, we are beyond grateful for all of your support!
