Kia Ora ya’ll my name is Lauren and I am raising funds to help my soon to be son in law. My son, his fiancé, and I all moved to New Zealand from Texas in 2023 due to the anti trans laws and abuse we suffered. We had armed protestors outside our neighbourhood and people following me to work and threatening to kill us. Ryan’s parents kicked him out in 2022 and we’re not supportive of his relationship with my trans son Grey. They have weathered so many storms together and they will finally get married this June 4th. Unfortunately Ryan’s parents are unwilling to come. He will have no one at his wedding that is there for HIM. It breaks my heart that he won’t have the people he wants at his wedding so I am trying to fundraise so that his best friend Luna can come from Texas and be his best man. I believe everyone should have someone there for them at their own wedding. I am trying to raise the cost for her round trip flight from Houston to Auckland. From there she will stay with me and be the best man at Ryan and Greys wedding. Grey is extremely fortunate to have had a supportive and loving family support him from the day he transitioned and I just want to provide someone to be there for Ryan. Especially on special occasions, some LGBTQ people feel left out. But we also know that those of us in that community are our own family and so I am hoping that you will joining me in making Ryan and Grey’s wedding day very special for these very special boys.
