Ryan Faherty is a 24-year-old young man from North Haven, CT, who has developed a condition called Constrictive Pericarditis. This causes inflammation and hardening of the pericardium, the sac that surrounds the heart. Over time, the sac malfunctions causing Congestive Heart Failure.
Over the past year, Ryan’s condition has progressed quickly into Congestive Heart Failure, leaving him in desperate need of a heart transplant.
Ryan has been hospitalized a few times over the last year. That, along with frequent doctor's appointments and the fact that he becomes easily fatigued, has forced him to stop working.
Although Ryan does have medical insurance, many medical expenses (frequent doctor's appointments, tests and daily medications) have to be paid out-of-pocket until the high deductible is reached.
