Help Ryan Battle Rare Blood Cancer

Donation protected
Hello, my name is CherRie, and I’m creating this campaign to support my baby brother, Ryan Duncan. Ryan is a hardworking general contractor who’s building his own businesses. He’s a father to Kennedy (19), Parker (18), Greyson (11), and Ardella (3), and he’s also the stepdad to Aidan (18). Ryan and his sweetheart, Grace, have been together since the fall of 2020.

Last October, Ryan started experiencing severe pain in his neck. Since he had just moved, he attributed it to the stress of the move. He tried various treatments, including medication, chiropractic care, acupuncture, icing, heating pads, pain creams, and even a cortisone shot, but nothing seemed to relieve the pain. His doctor ordered an MRI, but it didn’t show any cause for the pain.

For the next few months, Ryan endured the pain. In March, he started experiencing blurry double vision. His new insurance company advised him to go to the ER since his primary care physician was a virtual doctor. At the ER, they performed some CT scans and found a mass in his head. He was admitted to the hospital and underwent an MRI. Ryan spent eight days in the hospital, trying to be transferred to UCSD, where he was told he needed surgery to remove the tumor. However, there weren’t any available rooms, so he was discharged. At that point, Ryan and Grace began coordinating directly with UCSD.

On April 17, Ryan underwent a biopsy, and on April 24th, he received a diagnosis of a plasmacytoma tumor. Plasmacytoma is a rare form of blood cancer that often requires radiation therapy, especially for localized tumors, as they are typically sensitive to radiation. In some cases, surgery may be necessary, particularly for extramedullary plasmacytomas. If systemic disease, such as progression to multiple myeloma, is evident, chemotherapy may be required. Regular follow-up is crucial because solitary plasmacytomas can sometimes progress to multiple myeloma over time. Early detection and treatment are essential for managing the disease effectively. Ryan’s tumor is large and aggressive, located just under his pituitary gland and considered a skull-based tumor. It’s putting pressure on his optic nerve, which has hindered his ability to function independently and go to work. Due to his vision issues, Ryan is currently not allowed to drive. He would not even accept monetary assistance unless it’s absolutely necessary at this time. Please consider making a donation on his behalf.

Additional ways to help:

• If you prefer to use Venmo, you can send a donation directly to Ryan at @Ryanduncan88.

• If you live in California and have a cement tile roof that is 20 years or older, or a roof that has moss or algae on it, please consider Ryan’s roofing business for a free estimate. This business specializes in cement tile roof restorations but is a full-service roofing business. Ryan’s team is able to do all of the work for this business.

• If you live locally to Ryan in Southern California, an organic healthy meal is appreciated as well.

We greatly appreciate your prayers for Ryan and his family during this time.

What the money will be used for:

There is a really amazing cancer center near Ryan that he would like to go to called Hope4Cancer. At Hope4Cancer they really help heal the entire body. They include Emotional and Spiritual Healing, Restore Microbiome, Oxygenation, Non-Toxic Cancer Therapies, Immuno Modulation, Full Spectrum Nutrition, and Detoxification in their approach to treating cancer.

The money will also go to help cover any additional medical expenses as well as cost of living expenses.
