Dear friends and community,
We are reaching out to share the heartbreaking news about Ryan and Heather Brettin. Yesterday, they were victims of a violent act when Heather's ex-husband intentionally hit them with his truck as they were leaving Walmart. He fled the scene, and authorities are still searching for him.
Ryan is currently hospitalized with severe pain from four lumbar vertebrae fractures, a ruptured tendon in his thumb that may require surgery, numerous bruises, and a large hematoma in his left leg. Heather was thrown about 10 feet upon impact and has sustained shoulder and knee injuries, making it impossible for her to bear weight on her right leg due to a large hematoma and knee injury.
Both Ryan and Heather work in mental health and are dedicated to helping others. They now face a recovery period of at least eight weeks, possibly longer. They are deeply worried about their monthly bills, as they recently bought a house. Heather works two jobs, and Ryan works full-time while attending school full-time. This was supposed to be his final semester before graduating with his bachelor's degree from EIU, but now his future is uncertain.
Their primary concern is making ends meet while they are unable to work. We kindly ask for any donations, prayers, and good wishes to support them during this challenging time.
God bless you all, and thank you for your generosity and support.
