Hello all! I'm making this GoFundMe account to help a friend out. Her son-in-law, Ryan William, encountered some health issues a few weeks back. Due to misdiagnosed appendicitis, he has been hospitalized due to sepsis with a pending appendectomy. He will have to wait 6-8 weeks before he can undergo the surgery. Until then, he is getting antibiotics and has a drain in. He is therefore unable to work.
He and his wife, Chelsea, work in the food industry. They worked in our local On The Border before moving to Austin, TX. This has caused a strain on their financial situation. We are trying to help! If you are able to donate, it will be much appreciated. If not, please lift Ryan in your prayers that he will continue to get better and recover .
Help Ryan on the road to recovery
This account has been established to help Ryan Williams as he recovers from a health crisis, causing lost wages and numerous healthcare expenses.
Ryan was admitted to the hospital on Saturday Nov. 16 with a ruptured appendix, a softball size abscess, and sepsis infection. He has had two drains placed to drain the abscess and has been on high dose IV antibiotics. They think his appendix was ruptured for at least a few days before going to the ER.
Much of this could have been avoided if not for a bad misdiagnosis! He had gone to the doctor almost week prior to being hospitalized and the doctor said he had a kidney infection and possible stones, prescribed antibiotics and sent him home. An ultrasound was done while in the office, no stones were detected, but the doctor still felt a kidney infection and possible stones were the issue. The doctor stated if he wasn't better within a few days they would schedule him for a CT scan. The pain didn't let up and the fever didn't break so Ryan contacted the doctor's office and was told to give it more time. He called multiple times during that week and was told to let the antibiotics run the course and they would go from there. Several days after seeing the doctor, Ryan wasn't getting better and went to the ER. The doctor at the hospital believes the rupture probably occurred a few days prior to him going to the ER, in which case it was several days of inflammation and then ruptured. After 9 days in the hospital, the doctor believes the situation is now stable enough to switch from IV antibiotics to oral, so they let him go home while he continues to build up strength before surgery. They will have to wait for all the inflammation and infection to settle down before proceeding with the surgery to remove his appendix, which will be on Dec 30.
Ryan is 29, and in strong physical condition, thankfully, or this would be much worse. Ryan and his wife, Chelsea, both work in the food service industry and you may have seen them at On The Border or Sportsplex in Texarkana or Maudie's in Austin. They both have big beautiful smiles, so I'm sure you would remember them! They are both hard workers, with goals they have been working towards, but this industry does not provide insurance and the policy he has taken out has a large annual maximum out of pocket.
We would like Ryan to focus on getting well, getting ready for the upcoming surgery, and healing from it. We also want to help Chelsea with the strain it has put on her as she worries about him and has tried to work as much as possible. Any help to relieve the financial burden they are facing would be greatly appreciated. In addition to financial aid, prayers are appreciated! Thank you in advance. Wishing you all a safe Holiday season.
