Overview: Ryan and Alyson lost nearly everything in an apartment fire in Hazel Dell early in the morning of Thursday, June 19th. While both were physically unharmed in the blaze, this young couple lost everything they own in an instant -- clothing, laptops, collectables, and sentimental items. They are now rebuilding their lives and are in need of help while they secure a new home and replace the items they lost in the blaze. Ryan and Alyson are both graduate students in the sciences. Ryan attends WSU Vancouver and Alyson studies at Portland State University. Both of them are dedicated to research and their community, and they both serve in various capacities within their disciplines and institutions. As graduate students, they juggle coursework, research, and financial strain. This fire has set them back immensely at a critical time in their academic journeys. What help do they need? At the moment, it’s very unclear what – if anything—can be salvaged from the blaze. Most importantly, Ryan and Alyson are looking to find a new home to rent. However, they also will need to replace all of their furniture, appliances, personal items, and school supplies. Right now, the best way to help is financially. As students, they don’t make enough money to cover this unexpected expense.
