Help Ruthie Heal Her Fractured Jaw

Hello Furiends,

My name is Ruthie and I was rescued from a puppy mill just over 2 years ago. Learning to live like a “normal” dog has been challenging, but my Corgi siblings have been helping me learn the ropes. We love to play together in the backyard, but my bestest friend is my Mahm. She takes me everywhere, and I’ve become a calming presence for her.

Unfortunately, my day started off in a bad way this morning, so I am hoping I can get your help. I had a dental on June 18th and had to have a tooth extracted. Dr. Munger said I was only allowed to eat soft food until my sutures healed. Mom has been following my discharge instructions precisely. What she didn’t know was that I hid a greenie in my car booster seat a few weeks ago and it sounded like a good snack this morning on our way to work.

After chewing on it for a few seconds, I yelped in pain. My Mom was confused until she saw what was left of the greenie. I have been in pain and can’t close my mouth very well. After some sedation and an X-ray, my Mahm was mortified to learn that I fractured my jaw.

My Mahm is very worried. My Corgi brother, Gavin, was recently diagnosed with diabetes and she has been dedicating all her time, energy, and money to getting him regulated. Needless to say, my need for a secret snack just added to her immense responsibilities.

I have to have my jaw repaired by Dr. Beebe at Apex Veterinary Specialists here in Colorado. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Mahm will update this page when she has more information. Thank you for thinking of me and sending me well wishes.
