Support for Ruthie's AML Journey & Comfort Home Care

Our mom, Ruthie, was initially hospitalized in early March for severe flu-like symptoms. What started as an initial hospitalization led to a diagnosis that no family is ever prepared to hear:

Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Because of Mom’s age & ongoing health conditions, she is not eligible for a bone marrow transplant, which is the primary cure for AML. Instead, she began a targeted, non-intensive treatment requiring extended hospital stays. Over the last few weeks, Mom has endured a grueling cycle of emergency room visits, endless transfusions, & complications that have tested her physical limits.

Despite the "rough days" & the physical toll of this disease, Mom’s spirit remains untouched. Just recently, when a physician on staff asked how she was doing, she looked up & simply said, “I’m still kicking,” bringing a moment of much-needed laughter to the room.

Her determination to fight is fueled by her unwavering faith. We trust in God’s plan, not our will, but His will be done-- & we greet each day with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of another 24 hours together.

As Mom transitions to home comfort care, our reality is shifting. While we remain focused on her comfort & peace, the financial weight of this journey has become significant. We are reaching out to our community to help cover:

Medical Expenses: Outstanding bills from multiple hospitalizations & specialized treatments.

Home Care Support: Costs associated with 24/7 care, specialized equipment, & comfort measures.

Family Support: Allowing our family to focus on being by her side during this precious time without the immediate strain of mounting financial obligations.
