Imagine living in a world where you can no longer hear the voices of your loved ones, your colleagues, or the students you’ve dedicated your career to. Four years ago, Ruth, working as a Career Development Professional in schools, lost her hearing suddenly, unexpectedly and completely. Despite this life-changing challenge, she remained deeply committed to her role, eventually able to use hearing aids and learning American Sign Language to adapt. Her determination to support her students and advance her field was nothing short of inspiring.
Unfortunately, Ruth's situation has worsened. Recurring ear infections and chronic eczema have caused severe damage to her ears, making it impossible for her to wear hearing aids safely. Following surgery, she is also battling vertigo, making mobility extremely challenging. The only hope left for her to hear again is a bone bridge implant—a life-changing procedure that would allow her to reconnect with the world around her and, most importantly, hear her children’s voices. The bone bridge is her last hope of ever hearing again.
Why We’re Asking for Your Support
Her siblings, Adrian and Angela, together with her colleague and fellow Career Development Professional, Ladi, are asking for your support to raise the necessary funds for this surgery. As Ruth lives in Malaysia, the cost is significant and they want to join together to give her the gift of hearing once more. As someone who has given so much to her profession and her students, her family and her friends, Ruth needs our help.
Any donation, big or small, will make a difference. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your network to help us reach those who may be able to contribute. Together, we can help Ruth regain what so many of us take for granted—the ability to hear and connect with the world around her.
The first installment estimated at £10,500 (to cover the implant) is due Thursday 20th with the remaining £4,500 needed a week later. We’re so close—let’s make this happen!
Let’s Give Ruth the Gift of Hearing Again
The first surgery is scheduled for Friday 21st March. As an integral part of her family and an inspiration in her field, we have come together as a community and helped her regain what so many of us take for granted.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity and support.
