Hey everyone, my sister Ruth and her roommates Ashley and Rachel need your help raising money for the Engage Illinois fundraiser. Engage Illinois helps create new opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Illinois. They are holding a fundraiser on April 11th and 12th in Aurora, IL. Although you are more than welcome to attend the events of the fundraiser, we want to give you the opportunity to donate to the cause if you can’t attend. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would help create more opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. The money will help Engage to:
- Build our coalition and amplify the needs of I/DD and their family support systems
- To identify & Educate I/DDs and their families on how to use more progressive community-based living options
- To work within the State of Illinois disability system, and with State legislators to create a more flexible system based on input from I/DDs, and their families
- To present educational sessions for I/DDs, families, and community partners across Illinois
- To train Self-Advocates and families to lead presentations and effect change in Illinois
