Help Rusty Fight Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer of Various Types
Donation protected
This is my son, Rusty Thornburg. He is known, loved, and respected from his 14ish years driving a school bus for Chesapeake Schools (big Bus 13!). He also worked in healthcare at various mental health facilities in the area and was generally loved by all those who know him. He befriended everyone and helped anyone he could.
In 2017, he had to retire because of health issues and 3 months in the hospital. Now, after life was looking up and he was hoping to return to work, life threw him the curveball of curveballs: Cancer. Not just any run-of-the-mill cancer. Stage 4 Metastatic Colorectal Cancer, cancer in the adrenal glands, cancer located throughout his upper and lower pelvic region, his abdomen, a questionable and likely cancerous growth on his left lung, and lesions on his aorta, above his right kidney, and possibly one on his brain.
In the past 2-3 weeks, he has had to travel several times to "The James at OSU" in Columbus for the beginnings of treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, multiple tests). Transportation has been an issue as his car has been broken down for some time and needs a pricey repair (he has maintained the monthly payment and insurance religiously) and because of his $860 per month income, fixing it has been impossible. Also, the cost of gasoline, food, parking, and upcoming lodging are all hindrances. So now we come to you - his friends, family, and all those he has loved and been there for - to ask for your help. Give a little. Give a lot. Give from your heart. He would do the same (and has) if finances allowed. Along with your contribution, say a little prayer for him. Our Lord can work miracles and I think we may need one going forward. Please know that he would never ask for money on his own. He is far too proud to do that, hence the reason I am asking as his Mom.
Thank you so much on his behalf.
