On November 4th, I got a phone call while getting my daughters ready for school. Rusty was crushed between two cars when a woman sped down 234 and hit his car/my son’s car that was parked off the road. The cars bounced and crushed his legs, and late November 4th they had to amputate his right leg. He is on surgery number 7 as of Thursday, November 18th, to repair more of his left leg in hopes it won’t need taken as well. I have been stressed about bills and I found out that the gofundme my son made has been withdrawn so he (my son) can have a car. I have zero access to those funds, and honestly I have no idea how we will pay bills going forward. I was counting on that to help and now I’m absolutely devastated. I have to find a functioning car that will allow access for Rusty’s wheelchair, and while he wants a Chrysler 300, right now we will take whatever we can get. My biggest concern is the mounting medical bills, and my bills at home. We have been in this hospital for 13 days, and are exhausted. I have no idea when he will be able to return to work, and will need all the help I can get because I will have to be Rusty’s caregiver until he can get back on his feet (no pun intended). This has absolutely turned my entire life, my children’s lives, and my husband’s life upside down. I wish I hadn’t had to make this one, but I am desperate and terrified.
