Help Rusty and His Family Overcome Cancer Hardships

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Community,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts to share the story of Rusty Spendlove, a brave 14-year-old boy recently diagnosed with BCOR Sarcoma, a very rare form of bone cancer. This devastating news has profoundly impacted Rusty and his family, who were already grappling with significant hardships. A few years ago, Rusty's mother, Randi, suffered a debilitating stroke at the age of 34, leaving the family with immense medical bills and the challenge of caring for five children.

Rusty's parents, Kenneth and Randi, are doing their best to support their family. Kenneth works full-time and mows lawns in the evenings to keep up with the bills. Randi works part-time but struggles with vision and other complications from her stroke, making it increasingly difficult to continue working, especially with the added trips to the hospital for Rusty’s treatment. The family of seven lives in a cramped space of less than 1,000 square feet with one bathroom, with an aging vehicle on the verge of breaking down. These difficult living conditions are further compounded by the financial strain of Rusty's ongoing cancer treatment.

Rusty is a passionate wrestler and football player who was eagerly looking forward to attending high school. However, due to his illness, an upcoming amputation, and the grueling rounds of chemotherapy, he can no longer participate in the sports he loves or attend school as he had hoped.

How You Can Help
Your generous contributions can make a world of difference for Rusty and his family. We have set a goal of $40K to start out with in an effort to help cover the following expenses:

  • Medical Expenses ($200,000): Cancer treatments, surgery, chemotherapy, hospital stays, medications, specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, and rehabilitation services.
  • Living Expenses ($50,000): Improving the family’s living situation, covering rent/mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, and other day-to-day living expenses.
  • Transportation ($30,000): Purchasing a larger, reliable vehicle and covering fuel and parking expenses for hospital trips.
  • Lost Income ($20,000): Covering the loss of income due to reduced work capacity while caring for Rusty.
  • Other Expenses ($10,000): Additional childcare costs for Rusty’s siblings and an allowance for unexpected expenses.

Other Ways to Help:

  • Living Space Solutions: If you have connections or advice on finding affordable, larger living spaces for the Spendlove family, please let us know.
  • Vehicle Assistance: Recommendations for or access to affordable, reliable larger vehicles for frequent hospital trips would be incredibly helpful. If you know of any programs, dealerships, or individuals who could assist, please reach out.

We humbly ask for your support during this incredibly challenging time. Your kindness and generosity will not only aid in Rusty's fight against cancer but also provide a lifeline to a family in desperate need of hope and stability.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can provide.

With humble gratitude,
All who love Rusty & The Spendlove Family
