My brother Russell has always been my biggest cheerleader and has a heart of gold. After the recent passing of our mother, he is all the family I have left. On January 7th, our mother passed away after a long battle with Dementia. For the past four months, Russell put his life on hold and quit his job to become her full-time, 24/7 caregiver. During that time, I did my best to support them by covering their household bills out of my savings, but it has been a challenging period for both of us.
Russell took care of every aspect of our mother's daily life—feeding her, bathing her, taking her to appointments, chatting with her, playing cards, and simply being her companion. His dedication and love were unwavering, and he made sure she was never alone. Now that she is gone, Russell no longer qualifies to stay in their low-income senior housing community in St. Marys, GA. With nowhere else to go, he reached out to old friends in California, where we are originally from, and was offered a place to live if he can get himself, his belongings, and his vehicle there.
The problem is, after having no income for over four months, Russell does not have the means to make this cross-country move. The funds raised will help cover the cost of renting a moving truck and trailer to haul his car, gas for the 2,700-mile journey, motels for five nights, and food to get to Sacramento, CA. Any support you can give will help Russell make this difficult transition and mean the world to both of us. Thank you for considering helping my brother during this challenging time.
