Russ Musto, our friend and invaluable part of the NYC music scene, needs our help.
You may have heard that Russ has had some health problems this year, but now he's got a dire emergency. His house has burned down - and that included every form of ID he had, so now we really need to step up.
- He needs a free or very inexpensive place to live.
- He's receiving SS but has not been able to do freelance writing while all this is going on, so we are asking for money to keep him afloat.
His computer was saved, but his iPhone actually melted, and he needs that to get his old number back and keep his contacts together.

"Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been posting on or hanging out in the clubs for the past year or so, hearing great music and reviewing shows for the NY@Night column in the New York City Jazz Record. The reason for this is that I've been busy dealing with various somewhat mundane health issues that I felt no need to complain about publicly. But now the latest episode affecting my life is much more concerning and requires me to humbly reach out to all of you in hope that some of you might be able to come to my aid in dealing with a devastating situation.
On the night of September 11th my house had a fire that just about burned it to the ground, destroying nearly all of my posessions, as well as all my legal identification and a cash reserve that I kept as "bail money." Currently I find myself "unhoused," bouncing from couch to couch, unable to access my inadequate funds in my bank account needed to secure temporary living quarters and basic needs because I can't prove who I am."
