Hello, my name is Rupert Castillo. Last year, I was getting back on my feet when I suddenly experienced pain in my middle back. I'm not able to work because of that.
In late March 2026, I was admitted to San Francisco General Hospital. The saddest day of my life, doctors told me that because of my condition, the pain in my back is due to stage 4 kidney cancer! I was speechless and suffering from pain; my whole world felt like it was over. Now, I've been sent to a specialist in SF to diagnose and treat my cancer. Day by day, I feel like the medicine isn't working.
Last month, in May 2026, I started feeling like I had no more energy in my lower body, especially my legs. I called the doctor, and they told me to go to the emergency room, or they would call for me! They did, and now I was admitted because my legs can't support me to stand or walk!
To be honest, I have no place of my own. Yes, I have family here and there. My brother lets me sleep in his living room on an air bed, but during the day, everyone is at work, and nobody is available to take care of me, especially with my radiation treatment and rehabilitation. I need a place where I could recover, like a nursing facility with 24-hour monitoring, medication, and appointments. Yes, I'm part of Medicare, but it's so hard to get a good place or spot!
