Six months ago, I brought Rune home as a foster, eventually leading to adopting her in December & I wasn’t expecting anything more than the normal ups and downs that come with a young dog.
Recently, things shifted. She started having vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, losing weight, and clear signs that something wasn’t right. Bloodwork showed significantly elevated liver values, and a preliminary ultrasound showed that her liver doesn’t look normal. We’ve now been referred to a specialist for a more detailed ultrasound and further diagnostics to understand what’s really going on.
Right now, we’re in that in-between space; not fully diagnosed, but no longer something minor. She’s uncomfortable at times, and we’re working to stabilize her while figuring out the cause.
So far, we’ve already spent almost $2,000 on initial vet visits, bloodwork, and supportive care. The next step — a specialist ultrasound — is estimated around $1,200, not including any additional testing, medications, or treatment that may be needed after.
I’m someone who believes in showing up fully for the dogs in my care. At the same time, this is becoming a situation that’s bigger than what I anticipated taking on alone, especially if it turns into something ongoing.
This fundraiser is to help cover:
• Specialist diagnostics (ultrasound, testing)
• Medications and liver support
• Follow-up care and monitoring
Every bit helps take some of the pressure off and allows me to focus on getting her the answers and care she needs. Unfortunetly since this is pre-existing I can’t get insurance on her like I have on my other pets.
If you’re not in a place to donate, sharing this means just as much.
Thank you for being part of her support system while we figure this out.
