As I got home from work yesterday, I found my 3-month old kitten Rui gasping for air, paralyzed in his bed. I immediately rushed him to a vet, where they told me he’d suffered from severe anemia and low blood sugar, which led to an oxygen depletion. They also told me he needs more advanced care at a bigger animal hospital to receive a blood transfusion and cure whatever is causing the anemia, or he’s not going to make it.
A full-body check-up, blood transfusion, and hospitalization would roughly estimate ¥200,000 (roughly $1800), and another ¥200,000~300,000 for additional treatment for the anemia.
Rui is currently hospitalized at a smaller local animal hospital, where he’s receiving intravenous nutrition and oxygen, but this is a temporary solution to just keep him alive until he can receive a more advanced check-up.
I don’t want to give up on Rui without trying everything I can for him, but I just can’t afford the full treatment. He and Koma are the light of my life - they’re my family and my best friends. Rui only got to live at home for 1 month, and that’s just too soon for me to bear saying goodbye.
I know this is a long shot, but it’d mean the absolute world to me if you’d please help me give Rui another chance at life, if you’re able to. If you could share this page around social media also, I’d be so grateful.
The vet said that because he’s such a small kitten, theres no guarantee that the treatments will work, but I want to do everything possible to save his life and to get him back with his best friend Koma at home.
Thank you for hearing me out, and please, I’d be incredibly thankful if you could help share this page around.
