Hello! My name is April Jocelyn. You may or may not know that my husband and I love our three labs. Yes, a busy household of three, one in every color! Ruger, Browning, and Miss Shayla! They are the best and our whole world.
This year hasn't been kind to our family. In early February, Ruger was enjoying a snack and bit what we thought was his tongue or side of his mouth, due to some bleeding. This brought us to the vet as pain grew overnight and into the next day. It was quickly discovered that he bit and disrupted a mass. Ruger had surgery to remove the masses. Results came back weeks later, where we got the terrible news of Melanoma cancer. More testing gave us a positive that it hadn't spread!
Melanoma is an aggressive cancer. As we discussed a plan with the oncologist, it would be that Ruger would receive four treatments of Melanoma vaccine accompanied once with Electrochemotherapy. We just completed those this week. On the way to the last appointment, it drew my attention that the area on his gumline had grown and we met yet again, with the result needing to be surgery and soon!
We are scared, emotionally and mentally tired, stretched financially thin AND want the best for our boy. All this time, Ruger is full of life, energy, and still wants to play ball 24/7...and we do!! The oncologist shared that this is typically the route folks take when presented with this scenario and results. We want to have as much time with Roo as we possibly can. We always have Ruger's best interest in mind in our decision-making, what's best for him.
We are asking for help, it's not easy to do. We know the world is expensive and can be unfair to us all in some way. Any money donated will be used for surgery in a couple of weeks and care for Roo. Any amount you're willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated. If you're not able to donate, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.
