Hey Everybody,
I'm starting this GoFundMe today in order to help my beloved pitbull Rufus. As many of you know, Rufus is a year and some change and he loves to play, give slobbery kisses, warm snugs and hang with his family and his other furry cousins! In November of 2020, Rufus was playing in the yard and it appeared he suddenly twisted his ankle, after some rest and about a week, he seemed to be back to his fun loving self. Fast forward a few months and the same incident continued to occur. After countless vet visits, recommended joint supplements, and lack of full recovery I realized he needed more support. I took Rufus to be seen for X-rays and was told the injury is recurring because he had torn his Cranial Cruciate Ligament which is the equivalent to the human ACL.
My heart instantly filled and was so heavy due to the thought of him being in such pain and the realization of the long road we would have ahead. As I continued to search for the best possible plan for a full recovery, I knew that surgery needed some thoughtful consideration. With such a difficult decision to be made, I knew that I would need to take Rufus to see a surgeon so that I could fully understand his needs at this time. Welp, it was clear as could be to find that he in fact has not only torn one ACL, but BOTH ACL's. Overwhelmed with emotion yet again, I knew that this would be the only route to take that would bring Rufus back to a higher level of functioning and give him the best quality of life that he deserves. Rufus will be going for what's called a bilateral TPLO surgery on May 13th with the cost of this surgery totaling $9,000. I am hoping to raise as much money as I possibly can. This money will directly cover the costs of the surgery, anesthesia, bloodwork, medications, X-ray's, overnight stay at the hospital, and postoperative visits.
With your help, I will be able to pay for his medical expenses and bring Rufus back to himself again. Rufus has been my best friend since the day I brought him home and a member of the family. This help would be so greatly appreciated as the care of a loved one and a young dog mom with financial constraints can be so stressful and scary.
