Hello everyone. My name is Kate Sammis and I'm a Deputy for Mille Lacs County.

I know many in our community have had the opportunity to meet our Co Responder Jessi and her companion, Rufus.

If you haven't seen them around or had the opportunity to meet them, they play a huge role in our ability to reach and help the community.

They can often be found at schools, and community events, as well as helping law enforcement personnel with calls for service related to mental health support and comfort for our residents.

Unfortunately Rufus recently suffered an injury. While we aren't totally sure how he got hurt, he needs CCL (Crainial Cruciate Ligament) surgery (TPLO) on both of his back legs.

Rufus is not a Mille Lacs County K9 therefore the cost of the surgery falls on his owner, Jessi.

As many can relate, pet care and surgeries can be extremely expensive and I would like to ask our community to donate to Rufus's surgeries if they are able.

If you've been able to meet Rufus you'll know how much of an impact he makes in helping not only our communities but the Sheriff's Office Staff.
