help Rue recover from her orchiectomy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rue; you might also know me as Frankie or Natalie Tautou. I'm a writer living in the Twin Cities.
A few months ago my mental health tanked, in part due to severe emotional burnout working as a personal care assistant immediately after quitting food service for physical burnout reasons. I've been unemployed for a few months, looking for new work with no success, struggling in part due to a health scare which required a colonoscopy to clear up (I'm physically fine, thankfully, but the whole experience really took it out of me). Shortly after, I finally got an orchiectomy date scheduled for 9/16.
I've been putting off surgery for years due to a number of reasons, and while I'm looking forward to finally being rid of one of my greatest sources of dysphoria, I also don't have any savings. I've been able to support myself somewhat by working as a Doordash driver and various odd jobs, but I'm currently dependent on the generosity of others to help pay rent ($849/mo). What's more, once I have my surgery I'll be unable to work until October, since I can't engage in strenuous physical activity while recovering (the nurse I talked to says I can't lift anything weighing more than 10 pounds for two weeks). Thankfully, this procedure is much less intensive than a vaginoplasty, but I really can't afford to get evicted while recovering.
Any money I receive from this GoFundMe will go directly to paying my rent and utilities while I recover and try to find work. I've been through a lot this year I'd rather not go into here and I could really use a break. Thank you all who donate & take care <3
