Help Rudy Olvera Battle Multiple Cancers

Rudy Olvera was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer, liver cancer and in his Lymph nodes this past May 2024 and has been battling prostate cancer since June 2022.

We want to help.

My friend Rudy, has touched so many peoples lives over the years as a nurse from when he start his career at Breckenridge Hospital in Austin Texas as a nurse in the ER , from there his calling as a nurse led him to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville Tx, where he was a Charge Nurse in the ER. In 2015 Rudy and his partner Tim found a home in Denison Tx that they fell in love with and decided to purchase the house to make it their home. They have built so many relationships with the community. Rudy then made his move to Texoma Medical Center in Denison Tx. Rudy has now been there nine plus years and there is where he found the Hospital he calls home. Unfortunately two years ago in a routine doctor’s visit they found that Rudy had a very high PSA and was soon diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer that was inoperable. He has completed 8 weeks of radiation treatments and has been receiving hormone therapy for the past year and a half.

Back In May, this year he wasn’t feeling well. He was running a fever in the 104 range so Tim took him to the ER where he was admitted. They ran lots of test , he was diagnosed with pneumonia and stage 4 colorectal cancer. The next step was to have a Pet scan to see if it had spread before receiving treatment (chemo and/or radiation)and the results were heart breaking. The cancer had metastasized and was now in his Liver and his Lymph nodes.

Rudy is receiving Chemotherapy every 3 weeks and will be receiving it for the rest of his life to help prolong his life with the best quality possible. Unfortunately, this past week the chemo treatments he had 2 weeks prior were very hard on him. Rudy was admitted to the hospital running a 105 temp. He was declining very rapidly, communication issues, and many other things were going wrong for Rudy. Fortunately the Doctors, nurses and all the techs, at Texoma Medical Center are taking very good care of him.

With everything that has happened to Rudy he is now on short term disability. As we all know this can be very hard on a person and their family financially. If we could together, help take some of the burden off of him it will help in his ability to take care of himself because stress can be very hard when a person is fighting with cancer the way Rudy is. Rudy has dedicated so much of his life to taking care of others. We feel this is something we can do to give back to a person that has been so giving, kind, caring and loving!

Rudy is loved by so many people out there and he has made such an impact on so many peoples lives that he deserves to have some peace of mind! Any amount will go towards his medical expenses and his regular life expenses and will be greatly appreciated!
